Excursions

During one weekend excursion we travel to the subtropical cloud forests of the Intag region. There we visit a community-based coffee cooperative developed by local people as an economically and ecologically sustainable alternative to a multinational copper mining operation. Another weekend, we visit a Quichua-speaking community high on the folds of the Imbabura volcano and learn about the local ways of life and the community’s efforts in cultural tourism.
