Waging
Peace
(2003)
This year’s lectures feature guests whose
lives have been dedicated to working for peace and justice.
They offer an inspiring set of stories focused on the
active, organized, sometimes raucous, and risky business
of waging peace. From places of high power and low power,
as outsiders and insiders, each speaker will share their
stories about the power and ability of citizens to work
for social change against oppression and injustice. The
resulting changes, whether they are in human rights practices,
bringing war criminals to justice, or the overthrow of
a dictator, share a common foundation based in citizen
action and a commitment to creating peace without resort
to violence.
