Research by Dennis Plane
- Dr. Plane has an "R&R" from Social Science Quarterly on partisanship and political trust that is now a forthcoming publication in the December issue.
- He wrote paper on conceptualizing political trust that was presented at a conference last year that is now under review at Public Opinion Quarterly.
- He presented a paper on state-level political trust at the Midwest Political Science Association in Chicago. Dr. Plane is working on a research project about voter registration with Josh Scacco. Josh presented a first draft of this paper at NCUR and Dr. Plane will be presenting the next draft of the paper at the Southern Political Science Association’s annual meeting in January.
- Along with Professor Phil Dunwoody, Dr. Plane has prepared a presentation for a psychology conference in November related to the Bush administration’s policy of preemption. This paper is currently under review at Political Psychology.
- He is slated to present two papers at the Southern Political Science Association’s annual meeting in January. One is on federalism and trust in government. The other is on voter registration.
- Dr. Plane won a competition from the National Election Studies to include some political trust questions on an upcoming survey. He has agreed to write a report analyzing the results of these new questions—a task that will likely occur in the Spring.
- He won a competition to get some questions on an upcoming poll conducted by the Center for Survey Research and Analysis sponsored by the University of Connecticut. Once again, he will need to allow time to analyze these results when they become available.
- Dr. Plane would like to start examining GIS, as it is rapidly becoming commonplace in politics. I am exploring the option of going the NITLE workshop for introductory GIS.
